Low-Cost Vaccine, Microchip Clinic Offered at Nevada Humane Society’s Walk for Animals, May 24, at Sparks Marina
Nevada Humane Society’s Walk for Animals is about a week away—happening this year on Saturday, May 24 at Sparks Marina. While animal lovers are asked to help raise $100,000 for homeless pets, the public is also invited to bring their pets for a special low-cost vaccine and microchip clinic, being held during the Walk for Animals from 8am until 1pm. Cost for the services, which include basic vaccines, rabies, and microchips, ranges from $10 to $18.
“The Walk is an exciting, fun event but we wanted to give back to the community even more this year by offering these services. We know there will be hundreds of people out with their dogs, and there’s no better time to get them vaccinated and chipped, a service that provides for the dogs but also to their people,” said Kimberly Wade, Senior Manager of Communications and Events for Nevada Humane Society. “The vaccines are low-cost and proceeds directly benefit homeless pets.”
Nevada Humane Society’s Walk for Animals is next Saturday, May 24, at Sparks Marina, kicking off at 9am with a leisurely two mile walk around the marina. Leashed dogs (and cats) are welcome. Registration opens at 8am and festivities continue until 1pm.
Walkers who raise $35 or more receive a t-shirt and those who raise more receive additional prizes, including admission into the VIP tent. Everyone is welcome to enjoy refreshments, entertainment, pet contests, pet adoptions, exhibitors and more. The Walk for Animals is made possible by sponsor Petco Foundation.
Registration for the Walk for Animals may be done online or by using a printed brochure, which is available also online, at the shelter or at one of many local businesses. More information is available at NevadaHumaneSociety.org.
